The kind things your people think about you, always within reach.

A private home for the kind words between you and your people.

Coming soon to iPhone.

How it works

  1. Say it

Write someone one specific, kind thing, in your own words: a memory, a thank you, what you see in them.

  2. Open it

They get a link in a normal text from you and open it like a letter. They don’t need the app to read it.

  3. Thought

You always ask the right follow-up questions. Most people don’t.

    — Jordan Lee

    Keep it

They keep it in igotchu, with everything else people have written them.

In their own words.

A Memory, a Thanks, a Thought, a Wish or a Note. One specific, kind thing, from someone close to you.

Memory

— Danny Okafor

Questions

Do I need the app to read a message?
No. It comes as a link in a normal text from the person who wrote it, and you can read it right there. To keep it, you get the app and sign in with your phone number once.
Can it go on my Home Screen?
Yes. Add the igotchu widget, and the messages you’ve kept show up there, one at a time. Anyone who can see your Home Screen can see them, so you can keep any message or person off it.
Will they know if I’ve read it?
No. Whoever wrote it never finds out when you open it. They hear only if you keep it, react to it or add a note.
Who can see what’s written?
The person who wrote it and the people it’s for. If a link gets shared, others can read it, but only the people it’s for can keep it. Nothing is public, and nobody sees how many messages anyone has. Nobody at igotchu reads messages unless one is reported.
Does igotchu write anything for you?
No. igotchu never writes, suggests or rewrites anyone’s words.
Will igotchu text my contacts?
No. igotchu never reads your contacts or texts anyone for you. You choose each person, and the link goes out from your own Messages.
What if someone sends something unkind?
An automatic check stops messages with slurs, threats, sexual content or encouragement of self-harm before they’re sent. Messages from someone new wait, sealed, until you choose to open them. If something gets through, you can hide it, block the person (they’re never told) or report it.
Can a message be taken back?
Yes. Whoever wrote a message can take it back. Anything you saved to your phone stays yours.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Free to write. Free to keep. Nothing in the app is behind a paywall, and there are no ads. igotchu pays for itself with tips, if you want to leave one, and later, printed keepsakes. If that changes, we’ll tell you first.
When can I get it?
igotchu is coming soon to iPhone, for people 18 and older with a US phone number. Android comes after.
Who makes igotchu?
A small, independent company in New Orleans. Every email is read by a person.

Kind words from your people.
